Biography
Master of Photography, MaryEllen Nealis combines a rich knowledge of her craft with a genuine appreciation for the special moments in the lives of her clients.
Her gentle spirit and fun-loving nature puts everyone around her at ease, which makes the experience of having a photograph taken enjoyable and ensures every picture she captures will mark a special moment and be worth cherishing forever.
Specializing in wedding, graduation, corporate, family, pet portraits, still life and commercial photography, MaryEllen has been honoured with several awards. Named Photographer of the Year in 1999 and 2000 by the Maritime Professional Photographer’s Association and nomiated for PPOC Protrait Photographer of the year 2007. MaryEllen received her Master of Photographic Arts from the Professional Photographer’s of Canada (PPOC) in 2003.
MaryEllen received her 15-year pin from the MPPA as well as her Second Bar from the PPOC in 2006. In May 2006, she was awarded first place in the portrait class at the annual convention of the PPOC in Halifax and received a judge’s choice and award of excellence. This print was also chosen for the Loan Collection of the PPOC 2006. MaryEllen also had three images accepted and exhibited in the National Print Salon.
At the 2007 Atlantic PPOC Convention in St. John MaryEllen won Best Child Portrait award which would garnered her Best Portrait award.
In April 2007, PPOC Convention in Winnipeg, MaryEllen's prints had an outstanding year, scoring one excellent, two merits, and an accepted. This performance would earn her Best Group Protrait award, Judge's Choice award, 2 Loan Prints and was nominated for 2007 Portrait Photographer of the Year.
In February, MaryEllen was nominated for Portrait Photographer of the Year for PPOC Atlantic 2008.
